Knit-Knacks It’s In the Bag!

What basics should you pack in your Knit-Knacks bag?

  • Yarn! - For beginners, a medium weight, basic yarn is best. Variegated colors are great! Avoid the frilly, novelty yarns though.
  • Knitting Needles – medium sized (7-10 mm) will work well. We’ve found that the metal needles are a little easier to handle than the plastic ones.
  • Crochet Hooks – medium sized, metal is easy to handle.
  • Yarn Needles – These are big needles with a large eye and blunt tip. Metal or plastic.
  • Scissors
  • Tape Measure
  • Spool knitter – The kids made these at the first meeting.

Other cool things you might need later on…

  • End covers for knitting needles – These will keep your project from sliding off the needles while stored.
  • Safety Pins
  • Stitch Holders
  • Stitch Markers
  • Stitch Counter
  • Circular and Double Pointed needles – These are used for knitting in the round, just like our can and spool knitters.

What kind of bag should you have?

Any bag that will hold all of your supplies will work. Bags with pockets and compartments are great for little things. My bag is a Capri Sun Bag. My daughter uses a Kid’s Garden Bag.
